In 1980, Tom's band The Switch (see All Dressed Up, above) was signed by the then equally-unknown Pete Waterman. Sharing songwriting duties with Tom was drummer and general genius Peter Frederick Dowling, who died much too young from cancer in 1995. In 2026, with help from Rick Nelson (also in Leeds bands with Pete) and Eddie Dorey (singer in Pete's Nottingham band Working Party), Tom made this YouTube channel so the world might know of Pete's amazing talent as a writer, singer, drummer and all round good egg. (Pete decided, sensibly, not to be pop star, and left The Switch before the deal was signed, though he played on our never-released first single 'Can't Stand Still'. The Switch became Pinups, but never troubled the charts, or anything else for that matter. And Pete became Tom's son Jack's Godfather).
